Karen is a New York City native who has lived in California for more than 15 years, the last nine in San Francisco. She joined SFPT as Executive Director in 2008. After graduating from Barnard College and earning an MBA at the Columbia University Graduate School of Business, Karen worked in the for-profit arena, first in New York at Dun & Bradstreet and Knight Ridder Financial. In Silicon Valley she worked at companies which included Apple, E*TRADE, and several start-ups. Fulfilling a long-term goal to do work in the philanthropic world, she joined Magic Theatre as Director of Development, then moved to the Bay Area Ridge Trail Council, where she learned a great deal about how public/private partnerships can benefit the community. Karen got her start with nonprofit organizations by serving seven years on the Board of Directors of the Committee for Green Foothills. She was a trustee of Earthshare of California, and is currently a trustee of the Green Foothills Foundation. Having experienced first hand the importance of parks in both New York's and San Francisco's urban settings, she deeply appreciates the need for green open spaces- parks simply make life in San Francisco better.

John Stoner began working at SFPT as Chief Financial Officer in June 2008. He relocated from San Diego in July 2007 to work for the City of South San Francisco as a Financial Analyst. Prior to moving up to the Bay Area, he had been the Director of Finance for the San Diego LGBT Community Center for the last 7-1/2 years of his nine years of service there. John graduated from Vanderbilt University with a degree in Civil Engineering and holds an M.B.A. in Finance from the University of Missouri-Columbia. He resides in the Potrero Hill neighborhood of San Francisco where he enjoys his panoramic views of downtown and the East Bay. John loves sports, especially football, is an avid gardener, and loves to travel.
